How to Get Rid of a Rash under Breasts
Rash is a most common problem among women of the age after 40. It is called intertrigo as it is a form of irritant dermatitis. Intertrigo is considered by the inflammation of skin folds.
There the most common reasons due to the rash under breasts occurs such as lack of air circulation, excessive sweating, heat and wearing tight fitting bras that usually rub against the breasts. Usually feeding mothers go through this problem like if they have allergic reactions of the breast tissue and therefore, the result might be the appearance of the red patches, itchiness, burning sensation, discomfort and dryness around the breasts. 1. Cold Compress
Cold compress gives you an immediate relief from inflammation, pain and burning sensation, especially caused by the rash under the breasts.
- Take some ice cubes and wrap in a thin cotton towel. Now put it over the rashes for about 10 minutes. Take a break then repeat again.
- Another thing you can do is apply a skim-milk and cold-water compress in equal parts as these both ingredients together will give you relief from swelling.
- Also, try to take bath with cold water. It will be good to close the pores of the skin, thus would be helpful to reduce the sweating.
2. Cotton
The first thing you should do always is to reduce the accumulation of sweat around the breast area and for this; you would need a cotton pad with you.
- Place a thin cotton pad between the lower part of your breasts and the skin underneath. It will help in absorbing the moisture and create a barrier. You can use soft paper towels also.
- Wear light weight clothing made of cotton or natural fibers as it will be good to absorb the moisture and to keep your body free from sweat.
3. Vinegar
If any of the chemical residues is present on your clothes, it can cause a breast rash so it sounds a little harmful for you. Vinegar, in this case has a wonderful solution towards this problem.
- Fill half of a bucket with hot water and add one-half cup of white vinegar in it. Use this solution to wash all your bras whenever you need and dry them in the sunlight.
- Another option is to apply apple cider vinegar on the irritated skin. Use mild soap to wash your infected area and always remember to rinse with cold water. All you have to do is just mix one tsp of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water and apply on to the affected area. Do the remedy three times daily.
4. Cornstarch
Cornstarch is good to reduce the itching and burning sensations associated with breast rash. It keeps your skin dry and do not allow the sweat glands to secret excess amount of sweat. If you have fungal rash, use talc as fungi feed on cornstarch.
- First clean the affected skin with soap and water then pat dry with a towel.
- When the area becomes completely dry, dust cornstarch over it.
- Do this remedy at least twice daily until you get rid of this problem.
5. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil contains a soothing and healing effect on the skin as it provides the instant relief from the rash under breasts. Coconut oil has greasy nature due to which it helps in reducing the friction that is responsible for the rashes. Coconut oil is recommended because it contains antibacterial and antifungal properties.
Apply some extra-virgin coconut oil on the affected area and allow it to absorb completely into the skin. Do this remedy three times daily.
6. Calamine Lotion
Calamine lotion is used on a breast rash as it provides relief from itching and speed up the process of healing. It keeps the area dry and reduces the chances of infection.
- First clean the skin with a mild soap and lukewarm water. Pat dry the area using a towel.
- Gently apply the calamine lotion with the help of a cotton ball.
- Repeat the procedure certain times a day.
7. Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil has antifungal properties and is usually recommended to treat the breast rash. It stops the growth of fungus and infection.
- Mix four tbsp. of olive oil with six drops of pure tea tree oil.
- Dip a cotton ball in this oil and apply on the breast rash.
- Massage the area gently so that the oil gets penetrate deeply inside your skin.
- Do this remedy after taking shower and before going to bed again.
8. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera contains soothing affect so it reduces the itching and burning sensation caused by the rashes. It has antibacterial and antifungal properties. Aloe vera when combines with the turmeric, it can do wonders.
- Extract the fresh aloe vera gel from an aloe vera leaf and apply on the affected area. Leave it for 20 minutes and do not wash it off.
- Also you can use aloe vera gel mixed with a little turmeric powder. Leave it for 20 to 30 minutes before washing.
9. Garlic
Garlic has antiseptic and antifungal properties therefore; it is the best ingredient to treat the rash under the breasts.
- In one-half cup of olive oil, soak a few garlic cloves overnight. On the next day, apply this oil on the affected area and leave for few hours and then wash it off. Use this remedy four times a day to get rid of this problem. Instead using the olive oil, you can take crushed or pureed garlic cloves.
- Try to increase the garlic intake in a raw or cooked form in your daily meal so that the healing process can be speedy.
10. Lemon
As we know, lemon contains vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant that helps in the growth of fungal infections and also speeds up the healing process.
- Add one tbsp. of fresh lemon juice in three tbsp. of water to make it dilute. Apply on the affected skin and allow it to dry completely.
- You can also use a mixture of two tbsp. of lemon juice and a little raw honey on the breast rashes. Leave for 20 minutes and then rinse it off.
Additional Tips
- Those women who are overweight or obese are highly suggested to lose weight because this is common in them.
- To reduce the friction responsible for the rashes under breasts, apply topical ointments that are greasy in nature.
- Try to wear clean, dry bras made of breathable fabrics like cotton. Avoid tight fitted bras made of synthetic fabric.
- Launder your undergarments carefully.
