Home Remedies for Muscle Pain
The entire body of a person possesses an complex system of muscles so that the muscle pain can occur in any part of the body. It is common in every person usually cause due to the over-pressure during any kind of activity.
You will feel the pain within 12 to 48 hours after finishing the activity. Sometimes, it is temporary and exists for a while but in other cases, it becomes so hard for you to tackle the pain and stop your body by doing day-to-day activities.
If you are fighting against the muscle pain, the first thing you should remember in your mind that always keeps your body hydrated by doing enough amount of water. Water helps in retention of your body muscles. if there is not an adequate amount of water present in your body, your muscles will become tight, tender and easily injured. For abrupt relief, you can try natural home remedies for soothing out the symptoms related to the muscle pain. So here the remedies are describing below:
1. Cold Pack
Cold pack will be beneficial for relieving the muscle pain and inflammation. The cold pack will help the blood vessels to reduce the blood flow to the area.
- Take a handful of ice cubes and wrap them in a thin towel.
- Place it on the affected area for at least 15 minutes.
- Repeat the process every hour for the first 24 to 72 hours.
2. Hot Water Soak
After the first 24 hours of the muscle pain, you can do hot water soak as it will give you quick relaxation thus the pain will become mild. It will help in increasing the blood flow and speed up the healing process. Do not try to use this remedy during the first 24 hours.
- Fill the bath tub with hot water and add one cup of Epsom salt in it. Magnesium is present in the Epsom salt and it helps in promoting the muscle relaxation.
- Soak the affected part of your body in that water for about 20 minutes.
- Repeat few times a day for two days.
3. Tart Cherry
Tart cherries are really great for the muscle pain after exercising. In 2010 study, it has been estimated in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports, tart cherries contain a huge quantity of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds that can easily reduce the inflammation and pain.
- Eat one-half cup of tart cherries after every workout to prevent muscle pain.
- You can prepare a juice of tart cherries and drink it. Do not add sugar.
4. Turmeric
Turmeric is easily available at everyone’s home so you can freely treat yourself. Turmeric works as a potent painkiller and useful for muscle pain due to have anti-inflammatory property.
- Mix one tsp of turmeric powder in one cup of milk, heat it over a low flame and drink at least two times a day.
- Optionally, make a poultice by mixing equal amounts of freshly ground turmeric, lemon juice and salt. Apply this paste onto your aching muscles then leave it for 30 minutes. Rinse it off with warm water and do this remedy two times daily.
5. Ginger
Ginger is said to be a natural anti-inflammatory agent and improve the blood circulation and blood flow due to which the muscle pain will relief.
- Take a cotton cloth and wrap four tbsp. of freshly grated ginger in it. Put this bag in hot water for less than one minute and cool it. Now place it on the affected area for 15 minutes. Repeat the process several times for three days.
- You can also prepare a ginger tea and drink it at least three cup per day. To make that herbal tea, cut a small piece of ginger root and boil it in two cups of water for 10 minutes. Strain the water and add little honey. Enjoy your herbal tea.
6. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is also good to soothe out the muscle pain because it has anti-inflammatory and alkalizing properties to reduce the pain and inflammation.
- Add two cups of apple cider vinegar to lukewarm bath water; soak your affected part in water for 15 to 20 minutes. Do this daily for few days.
- Another thing you can do is add one tbsp. of apple cider vinegar and some honey to a glass of warm water. Drink it once daily for a week.
7. Cayenne Pepper
Cayenne pepper contains analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties that help in reducing the pain, stiffness and inflammation.
- Mix one tsp of cayenne pepper powder with two tbsp. of olive oil. Apply this mixture to the affected area and cover with a bandage. Leave it overnight and do this remedy for two days.
- Alternatively, you can add five tsp of cayenne pepper in to one-half cup of coconut oil. Warm the mixture in a slight flame and sit for 24 hours after that. Strain the oil and store it in an airtight jar. Gently massage the affected muscle area for three times a day until the pain is gone completely.
- While eating salad and soup you can sprinkle the crushed cayenne pepper flakes onto them.
8. Rosemary
Both fresh and dried rosemary leaves has anti-inflammatory properties that gives soothe to your muscle tissues and reduce the pain very quickly.
- In eight cups of water, boil three ounces of dried rosemary leaves.
- Remove from heat and let it steep for 20 minutes.
- Soak the affected area for 15 minutes in this solution.
- Do this remedy for three times a day.
9. Mustard Oil
Mustard oil is a natural ingredient that is helpful in increasing the blood flow on the surface of the skin. It will speed up the healing process by alleviating the pain.
- Chop 10 garlic cloves.
- Heat them in four tbsp. of mustard oil until the cloves become golden brown in color.
- Now put a little piece of camphor in it.
- Allow the mixture to cool then strain it.
- Gently massage this oil onto the affected part of your body.
- Follow this remedy several times a day.
10. Bananas
Bananas are very much useful in case of muscle pain due to the cramping. Banana is a healthy fruit and is rich in potassium. If you feel muscle weakness, fatigue or cramps, these situations are due to the deficiency of potassium in your body. So eat banana regularly.
- Eat ripe bananas daily to help treating the sore and aching muscles.
- You can also prepare banana milkshake and drink it. This will provide your both potassium and calcium that are good for healthy muscles.
