Home Remedies to Relieve Back Pain
Back pain is common in those persons with middle age and sometimes it becomes serious if you do not take any kind of action like treatment. But most of the time, young people also get suffer from it.
Backache starts with the pain on other parts such as pain around the hips, spine flexibility reducing and difficulty in sleeping. There are many reasons due to which back pain occur like improper diet, arthritis, muscle tension, lack of physical activity, poor sitting posture, excessive physical labor and pregnancy.
Back pain will make for you difficult to tackle all the household activities day-to-day. Natural treatments are the best known for this purpose because the natural remedies can give you an instant relief from the back pain. So here are the remedies given below:
1. Ginger
Ginger root is used to cure the vomiting and is also good to treat the back pain. Ginger contains anti-inflammatory compounds that give you relief from back pain.
- Apply ginger paste on the affected area including the eucalyptus oil in it.
- Cut at least 6 slices of fresh ginger root and put the slices in one and one-half cups of water. Boil for 15 minutes and allow the mixture to cool at room temperature. Strain the solution and add little amount of honey in it. Drink this ginger tea three times a day for few days.
- You can also make a herbal tea with one-half tsp of black pepper corns, one-half tsp of cloves and one tsp of ginger powder.
2. Basil Leaves
Basil leaves are also very important to treat this problem.
- Add 10 basil leaves in one cup of water and boil it until you see the water evaporates and it reduces to half.
- Let it cool at room temperature then add one pinch of salt.
- If you feel a mild pain, drink this blend once daily. In case, the pain is severe, drink it twice daily.
3. Poppy Seeds
Poppy seeds work greatly as remedy of backache.
- Grind 1 cup of poppy seeds (khus khus) and rock candy (misri) together.
- Consume about two tsp of this mixture two times daily added in a glass of milk.
4. Herbal Oil
Massage your back with herbal oil so it will be helpful in relaxing the muscles. You can use herbal oils like eucalyptus oil, almond oil, olive or coconut oil. Warm the oil and massage it gently over the aching parts.
5. Garlic
Garlic is another ingredient that helps in back pain. Simply you can eat three cloves of garlic in every morning with an empty stomach. Massage your back with garlic oil.
- To make garlic oil, heat some coconut oil, mustard or sesame oil on a low flame of heat then add 10 cloves of garlic to it. Fry the garlic until it becomes brown. Strain the oil and let it cool at room temperature.
- Massage your back gently with the oil. Leave for some time then take a bath with warm water.
6. Wheat
Wheat contains compounds that have the ability to produce an analgesic effect that is helpful in minimizing the pain.
- Take a handful of wheat and soak in water overnight.
- In the morning, mix in cuscus grass powder and coriander. Add one cup of milk and boil it for few minutes until it is thick.
- Drink this mixture two times daily.
7. Ice Packs
Cold compress are beneficial in reducing the pain and swelling. If ice is not available, you can also use a bag of frozen vegetables.
- Take a bowl of crushed ice and put it in a plastic bag then wrap it in a towel. Put this compress on the affected area for 15 minutes.
- Do this remedy again and again, waiting half an hour between each application.
- You can also apply hot compress to reduce the backache.
8. Epsom Salt
Epsom salt is also useful to ease pain and relieve inflammation.
- Mix Epsom salt with hot water in order to make a thick paste. Take a towel and soak it in this mixture, squeeze out the excess liquid from the towel. Put it on your back and around the aching area.
- You can also add two cups of Epsom salt to your bathwater and soak your body in it for half an hour.
9. Chamomile Tea
A hot cup of chamomile tea will help relax tense muscle tissues that are the main cause of the symptoms of backache. You can buy pre-packaged chamomile tea.
- Add one tbsp. of chamomile flowers to one cup of boiling water and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
- Drink this solution one to three cups daily.
10. Milk
Milk contains adequate amount of calcium that your body needs for strong bones and healthy muscles. Calcium prevents your body from backaches.
- Drink milk on regular basis, add honey to sweeten up the taste.
- You can also make a mixture of cuscus grass and sugar in equal amounts and consume it two times daily with a cup of warm milk.
