Home Remedies for Muscle Weakness
Muscle weakness is obviously due to the circumstances that if you are working so long, you will definitely feel muscle pain and when you take rest for a while, the meanwhile your muscles become relaxed. So this condition indicates that you are suffering from the obstinate muscle weakness.
The signs from you can get the problem of muscle weakness and reduced muscle strength by doing full effort in working for a long time without any rest; your body will not be able to produce the proper muscle contraction and movement.
In spite of feeling muscle weakness, you will go through with the symptoms like frequent falls, burning sensations in a specific part of your body, muscle spasms, prickling sensations, muscle pain and twitching, etc.
Make sure that you do not ignore this muscle weakness problem as it is a sign of serious health issue. In which most of the serious issues might be the muscular dystrophy, chronic fatigue syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, Grave’s disease, hypercalcemia, rheumiatic fever, prolonged bed rest.

In the meantime, you can also try some home remedies that are natural and effective in all the way to fight muscle weakness. So here the remedies are given below:
1. Epsom Salt Bath
Epsom salt bath is beneficial to get rid of the muscle weakness as it is rich in magnesium, so it helps in increasing the magnesium level in your body that is good for the muscles and enable them to work properly.
Epsom salt bath promotes the muscle relaxation and the healing process becomes fast.
- Fill a bath tub with warm water.
- Now add 2 cups of Epsom salt and stir the water thoroughly.
- Enjoy this relaxing bath for at least 20 minutes.
- Do this remedy once a week.
2. Exercise
Exercise is the best way to restore the weakened muscles to the strong muscles. If you are living a life without any exercise then you are doing a big mistake.
You should do some gentle exercises to maintain your muscles to contract and expend properly and it also improves the blood circulation.
The best exercises for this purpose are walking for minimum 30 minutes and at least 5 times a week. You can try swimming, running, jumping, trekking, and similar activities to help strengthen your muscles. Yoga is also a best thing as it keeps your energy level high.
3. Oil Massage
Oil massage is the best thing to increase the blood flow on the surface of your skin. It helps in loosen up the muscles and improves the blood circulation so that the nutrients reach to the weak muscles. This remedy is found to be a good treatment for muscle weakness.
- Warm up some amount of olive, coconut or mustard oil (depending upon your choice).
- Apply this warm oil directly on your entire body, especially the leg part.
- Massage with the gentle motions of your hands for about 15 minutes.
- Use this remedy for several times a day for few days.
4. Water Intake
Dehydration is the main cause of muscle weakness. The lack of water inside your body is not a good sign. You should have to rehydrate your body again to help strengthen the muscles.
- Drink at least 10 glasses of water throughout the day as to prevent yourself from dehydration.
- Always keep a water bottle with you if you are going outside.
- Along with water, you should take juices to maintain your health.
- Avoid alcohol beverages that are the cause of dehydration.
5. Vitamin D
Deficiency of vitamin D is another cause of muscle weakness. Therefore you need to enhance the vitamin D in your body to get rid of this problem. Vitamin D contains calcium, which is essential for the healthy muscles.
- To decrease the vitamin D deficiency, you would have to spend some time sitting under the sunlight. Exposure of the sun and the ultraviolet rays reaches to your body to give you vitamin D. Remember that do not sit during the peak hours of the day. The best time is when the sun rises in the morning.
- Eat foods containing vitamin D like sardines, salmon, fortified milk, mackerel, orange juice and cereal. You can also take vitamin D supplement after consulting your doctor.
6. Blackstrap Molasses
Blackstrap molasses is an effective remedy to reduce the muscle weakness. It helps in getting back your strong muscles again. Essential nutrients are present in blackstrap molasses that keeps your muscles healthy like calcium, which provides energy and strength to your muscles and the potassium, which maintains the electrolyte balance in your body.
- In a cup of hot milk, add 1 tbsp of blackstrap molasses. Drink this milk once daily.
- Optionally, mix together 2 tsp of each blackstrap molasses and raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar in 1 cup of water then drink it once daily.
7. Bananas
Eat bananas daily as it is a rich source of potassium and thus keep your muscles strong and enable them to work properly.
- Eat 2 to 3 ripe bananas with 1 tbsp of honey daily.
- You can prepare a banana shake and drink daily. In this way the dosage of potassium and calcium will be taken.
8. Milk
Milk is extremely rich in calcium and other nutrients and it is considered to be a source of B vitamins. It helps in reducing the muscle weakness. Milk is therefore an electrolyte so it keeps your body hydrated.
- Drink at least 2 glasses of plain milk or milk-based smoothies daily.
- Optionally, boil 1 cup of milk, add 2 tbsp of honey and 1 tbsp of licorice. Mix them well together and have it two times daily.
9. Indian Gooseberry
It is also known as “amla” which is highly nutritious fruit and improves the muscle issues. Indian gooseberry is the good source of iron, calcium, proteins, and vitamin C and thus all of these nutrients are very much essential for muscles to function accurately.
- Extract the juice from Indian gooseberries.
- Mix 2 tbsp of this fresh juice with equal amount of honey.
- Drink this juice at least 3 times a day until you see the improvement.
10. Acupressure
You can try acupressure as to get rid of the muscle weakness. In acupressure, a deep pressure is applied to the specific locations on the body that is helpful to promote the optimal blood flow throughout your body. You can do acupressure at your home but make sure you know the exact pressure points to be pressed or you can get it done by the experts for the better outcome.
Additional Tips
- While during exercises, your muscles should be warmed up and stretched.
- Get proper sleep for at least 8 hours to keep your body and muscles healthy.
- Take a warm shower before going to bed after workout sessions.
- Avoid smoking, caffeine, tobacco and illegal drugs.
- Eat more foods rich in B vitamins to build up the strong muscles.
- Avoid foods high in saturated fats.
